About the Block Party

Mt. Vernon Ave Porchfest and Blockparty 

Saturday, Sept. 29th 1-6pm, raindate, Sunday Sept. 30th


On Saturday, Sept. 29th, (raindate, Sunday, 9/30) the City of Melrose is hosting it’s first Porchfest from 2-6pm. Live music throughout the city on the front porches, yards and driveways of Melrose Residents. The public is invited to walk, bike ride, hobble, etc etc to different areas to enjoy the wide variety of local, live music. A map of each porch and the performers can be viewed and downloaded on the official porchfest site.


WHAT IS A PORCHFEST? Live music on the porches of people’s homes all throughout the city.



- Music Stage starts at 1pm at 135 Mount Vernon Ave. (Pink House)

- Neighbors are invited to partake in the Pot Luck and Games… see below.

- Barracades will be from bottom of Boston Rock Rd to Mt Vernon St.



Please move your car out of the block party zone by 11:45am and park on nearby streets. The street will be filled w/ games, tables and people, so driving through all that will not be possible until 7pm.



Bring your own chairs and folding tables if desired. If you need an ottoman.... BYOO



Potluck Food is very welcome and encouraged.  Please bring some paper plates and utensils to match what food you bring.

A small gas grill will be available to use. Feel free to roll out your own as well.

We’ll have two 6’ tables out for placement and an extension cord w/ power strips for crock pots and hot plates.



Booze must be in concealed cups, no obvious/open beer cans etc.

  • Does anyone have access to the following? scooter ramps, large jenga blocks,  anything else cool that kids and people will enjoy?
  • If you’re so inclined, helps the kids run a lemonade stand or sell baked goods!
  • More games and ideas are welcome


Let’s remind our children that this is a party for all different age groups. Fun should be had, but also within respectful regards to our neighbors, property, and avoiding rough play etc. Keep it classy, Mt Vernon.



Live music will be provided by several different groups. 1-6pm. The stage will be in the driveway of 135 Mount Vernon Ave ( Pink House ).
