ACOUSTIC SESSIONS

Come hang out and hear some great live music by our fellow area musicians!!!

***Thursday,  Nov. 19th  at Mick Morgan’s in Newton, MA, 118 Needham St. www.MickMorgans.com

8:30pm - Marilyn Kirby ( aka Kirby & Ko.)

Marilyn Kirby opened for Cream. Cambridge late 60's. She had music videos in the beginning days of the real MTV, circa NYC St. Mark's Place. She plays a beat up old Telecaster that has "that sound" ala Keith Richards on the Raindogs album by Tom Waits. Her songwriting is honest. She tells a story, she rocks it out and belts it out with a beautiful voice.  http://marilynkirby.bandcamp.com/

9:30pm - Leah Ferjulian

Leah Ferjulian is the bassist for The Almighty Buck and many will recognize her as one of the fill-in host of Tim Ko.‘s Acoustic Socials. Classically trained in several stringed instruments, Leah returns to stage with guitar in hand after polishing off some anticipated originals and finalizing a few cover tunes rooted in yesteryear. She is influenced by such greats as Tina Turner, Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Rait and Amy Weinhouse. Leah carefully chooses covers that rock out--she sings that song you've heard but forgotten about and songs that display the type of soulful songwriting she creates in her own work.

10:30pm - Hartstrings

Hartstrings is a Boston-based acoustic duo that is new to the scene, but an old friend to the world of music.  With their different musical backgrounds, Christian (guitar) and Karen (vocal) combined their talents to create an unique spin to popular (and not so popular) songs.  The duo is loving every second of this new adventure - we hope you love it too!

The Pioneer Valley Pioneers play real North American country and rockabilly, with a different, more acoustic vibe featuring many classic-style duets and plenty of dancing numbers.

Pioneer Valley Pioneers

Nine Pound Hammer

8:00pm -  Aileen Valca

Aileen is an italian/Irish/American songwriter with a passion for literature and roots folk, country and blues music. She gives great importance to musical experimentation and to lyrics, considering them poetry. Her current project has some songs that are a sort of social commentary of contemporary Wester Society (in the tradition of 60s folk music) and others are more symbolic, dealing with universal themes. Her musical mission is to create a strong and fresh form of communication, a sort of dialogue with reality.

10:00pm - Ken Carter

Ken Carter, aka “the Midnight Special” of our Acoustic Socials. He typically roles in when everyone else is heading home to bed. For those that stay, they are treated with bags full of ear candy. Ken writes heartfelt poetry that shoots arrows at realism. Accompanied by rhythmic, percussive guitar work and a whiskey voice.
